cammino DEI BORGHI SILENTI

The Cammino dei Borghi Silenti is a RING route that winds along the northern slopes of the Amerini Mountains in Umbria. It is divided into five stages lasting as many days and passes through unspoiled places and medieval villages that are still intact: its distinguishing feature is the charm of silence, which from the woods of holm oaks and chestnut trees, to the ancient walls of the small villages, seems to embrace and understand everything. The walker who knows how to listen to the silence that surrounds him, will be able to make a journey out of time and space, as in a kind of time machine: it is traveled with good legs but above all with a big heart! The trail is located in the southwestern part of Umbria, in one of the most fascinating and least known places in the region, far from the big crowded tourist destinations. The project, conceived by the private MARCO FIORONI, intends to promote and make known places of sure charm through the labors of the ancient paths, giving the possibility of being able to ride its ring also to mountain bike lovers. This route being structured like the Camino de Santiago and the Via Francigena is also an excellent training for those who want to face such experiences in the future.

The path

The walking route is about 90 km long and is mainly on dirt roads, mountain paths and some short sections of secondary paved roads. The Cammino dei Borghi Silenti is traced as a loop and revolves around Mount Croce di Serra, the highest point in the Amerini Mountains with its almost 1,000 meters in height; it is necessary to carefully follow the yellow-colored signs, as per the legend, as the trail runs through large uninhabited sections with long passages through the woods.
