On the road
with your dog

what to know

It is possible to walk the trail with your dog knowing that the route is quite challenging and dogs suffer it, especially in the mountainous section where rocks can ruin the paws' fingertips. The organization does not recommend leaving with your dog unless they are already used to walking such distances and elevation changes, especially in the summer months. Dogs are accepted in most tourist facilities (agritourisms, B&Bs, room rentals) while, it is forbidden to enter communal premises (donations and communal housing), more information on paper guide. It is always recommended to specify the presence of a dog when booking. ORDER THE PAPER GUIDE AND CREDENTIAL FOR YOUR 4-LEGGED FRIEND AS WELL, YOU CAN RECEIVE THE END-OF-WALK PARCHMENT FOR HIM AS WELL

The path

The walking route is about 90 km long and is mainly on dirt roads, mountain paths and some short sections of secondary paved roads. The Cammino dei Borghi Silenti is laid out in a loop and revolves around Mount Croce di Serra, the highest point in the Amerini Mountains at almost 1,000 meters (3,000 feet); you must carefully follow the yellow-colored signs, as per the legend, as the trail travels along large uninhabited stretches with long passages through the woods.
